I remember my kitchen as a place I could be with my mom, who was always so busy. I loved it there, hanging out with her, but at the same time I could see the options as a girl were limited. I didn't want to get roped in to doing all the housework, I wanted to watch TV with my brothers.
I think some of my domestic ambivalence comes through in this series of "Kitchen" paintings.
